Description

The Adney memorial, located approximately 6 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb dating from around 1829. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape. The tomb features a moulded plinth and a chamfered top ledger, along with reeded corner pilasters. On the south side, there is a recessed semi-circular inscription panel that commemorates George Adney, who died in 1829, and his daughter Ann, who died in 1823. The north side has a similar panel in memory of his youngest daughter, Charlotte, who died in 1879. The east and west sides of the tomb have blank raised oval panels.
