Description

This is a milepost located approximately 410 metres southeast of The Old Vicarage. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost has a triangular section with a chamfered top and features superscribed serif lettering. The top reads "ST. MARY.S/PARISH," the left side indicates "SALOP/4 MILES" and "TO THE COUNTY HALL," while the right side states "B.CHURCH/4 1/4 MILES" and "TO THE PARISH CHURCH." This milepost is part of a series along the Shrewsbury-Baschurch road.
