Description

This is a mid- to late 18th-century house, later adapted for use as a cottage hospital and now converted into flats. It is constructed of stuccoed walls, likely over limestone rubble, with a hipped roof covered in graded slate. The house has two storeys and stands on a recessed plinth. It features chamfered raised quoins and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. There are five bays, with glazing-bar sashes and exposed boxes to the windows. The central bay contains a six-panelled door with a rectangular overlight, set within a doorcase consisting of Doric pilasters supporting an entablature with a dentil cornice and a triangular pediment. A plaque commemorates the conversion of the house to St Catherines Clun Valley Cottage Hospital, which opened on October 11th, 1893, and is positioned between the first and second bays from the right.
