Description
No. 11 High Street is a farmhouse that has been converted into a doctor's surgery with a flat above. It dates from the 16th or 17th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-to-late 19th century and late 20th century. The building is possibly timber framed and has been refaced or rebuilt in coursed limestone rubble, with evidence of limewash on the east side. The front is rendered in 20th-century style, and it has a slate roof. The structure is L-shaped, featuring a gabled cross wing that projects to the left. It has two storeys and an integral lateral 20th-century stone stack on the left.
On the main range to the right, there is a 20th-century two-light casement window on the first floor, a 20th-century plate-glass window on the ground floor to the right, and a 20th-century half-glazed door to the left. The cross wing to the left has a 20th-century two-light casement window on the first floor and a ground floor 20th-century plate-glass window. There is also a first-floor two-light casement in the right-hand return front. Despite the alterations, the building is included in the listing due to its age, shape, and position in the town.
