Description
Lower House is a farmhouse, dated 1682. It bears the inscription "Thomas Morris, gent, and Jane his wife". The building was remodelled in the mid-to-late 19th century. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble, with roughcast to the front, and has a slate H-plan roof with two gables facing the front. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic. An integral 19th-century brick stack sits to the right, and an external brick and stone stack with a pitched-roofed link to the attic is located to the left. The front elevation has three windows. There are 19th-century two-light casements to the attic and first floor, and three-light casements to the ground floor. A central 19th-century four-panelled door, with the top two panels glazed, is flanked by the ground floor casements, and sits beneath a gabled timber porch with decorative barge boards and a finial. A probable 19th-century buttress is located on the east side, and a 19th-century lean-to addition extends from the rear.
