Description
The Sun Inn is a house and shop that is now part of an inn, dating from the 17th century with remodelling from the mid-to-late 19th century. It has a timber frame, mostly rebuilt, likely using coursed limestone rubble and render, topped with a slate roof. The building features two framed bays and is two storeys high. On the left side, there is a stone and red brick integral end-stack. The right side has two first floor 4-pane sash windows, while the left side has a small 2-light casement window. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light wood-framed metal casement window to the left and a 19th-century former shop front to the right. This shop front includes a 4-light shop window on the left, two half-glazed doors that are recessed to the right with flush bottom panels and panelled reveals, and a pilastered surround with a fascia and moulded cornice. Inside, there is a square-panelled timber framed cross wall.
