Description

The Corfield memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 7 meters north-west of the tower of the Church of St John the Baptist. It dates from around 1810 and is made of limestone. The tomb has a rectangular shape with a moulded plinth and a chamfered top ledger, featuring fluted corner pilasters. On the south side, there is a recessed semi-circular inscription panel, which was largely illegible during a re-survey in 1985, although the dates 1810 and 1816 were decipherable. There are also further illegible inscriptions on the top ledger.
