Description

This is an L-shaped range of barns located approximately 15 meters northeast of Wilderley Hall. The barns date from the early to mid-17th century and feature later additions and alterations. They are timber framed, with weatherboarded and corrugated iron cladding, and have corrugated iron roofs. The barns are arranged in an L-shape around the northwest and southwest sides of the farmyard.

The northwest barn has two levels and includes a raking eaves dormer on the left side of the northwest elevation. There is a doorway to the left of center with a carved scrolled head and a 19th-century door to the right. Inside, there is an inserted full-length loft. The framing consists of three square panels from the cill to the wall-plate, with long curving tension braces leading to the gable end. The roof is a Queen-strut design spanning five bays, supported by straight windbraces.

The southwest barn features a former threshing entrance in the second bay from the southeast, which now has 20th-century iron sliding doors. The internal framing is exposed, showcasing large square and rectangular panels, with two and three panels from the cill to the wall-plate. This barn has a Queen-post roof in four bays, also supported by straight windbraces. Wilderley Hall is not included in this listing.
