Description

Dingleside Old Stores, located in The Square, is a farmhouse that has been divided into three cottages. It dates from the 15th or 16th century and was remodeled in the early 17th century, with later additions and alterations primarily from the late 19th century. The building is timber framed, with some parts said to be of cruck construction, and is now covered in roughcast with machine tile roofs.

The hall range, which includes The Square and Dingleside, features an extended cross-wing, now known as Old Stores, that projects to the front on the left. The structure has two storeys and displays three late 19th-century casement windows on the former hall range, with the first-floor windows positioned directly below the eaves. There is a boarded door situated under a gabled timber porch between the first and second windows from the left, accompanied by a central axial red brick ridge stack immediately to the left. The cross-wing has one late 20th-century casement window to the left and a projecting late 19th-century casement window immediately to the left of the boarded door on the right, along with a roughly central gabled eaves dormer.

The interior of Old Stores and The Square could not be inspected during the re-survey in 1985, but it was noted that they are timber framed, with a reputed cruck truss in Old Stores. Dingleside appears to have been rebuilt in brick and is not considered to have special architectural interest.
