Description
Churton Lodge is a house built around 1830, with additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features slate roofs with end stacks. The central part of the house has three bays, with later additions to the left and a set-back section to the right. The building is two storeys high; the central section has full-height canted bays that project to the left and right, with one bay in the centre. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with 16 panes on the ground floor, and later 19th-century horned sashes on the outer windows of both floors on the right projection, and on the upper floor only on the left. The central entrance is through a three-sided rendered brick porch with a splayed roof. The mid-19th century addition to the right was used as a meeting place for Independent Calvinists until around 1914.
