Description

Kingsland House is a house that has been converted into a school house, dating from around 1790, with a 20th-century extension. It is possibly designed by Thomas Telford. The building is constructed of brick and has a Welsh slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features a seven-window range arranged in a 2-3-2 pattern, with an additional range added to the right around 1930. The main entrance is now located in the return elevation of this extension, leading to a corridor at the back of the principal rooms.

The house has a stone porch supported by Ionic columns and features balustrading. There is a small subsidiary doorway to the right of the central range. The center of the building is highlighted by a projecting bow window with full-height casements and balustrading above, flanked by full-height casement windows that illuminate a long, narrow drawing room. The flanking blocks and upper sections have 2-pane sash windows. The building is finished with a stuccoed cornice and parapet, and it has axial stacks.
