Description
The Bentley memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 1 metre north-east of the north aisle of the Church of St. Michael in West Felton. It dates from around 1816 and is made of limestone. The tomb is rectangular with inwardly sloping short sides and features a moulded plinth and capping that rests on ball supports. The chamfered top ledger is adorned with an urn that has leaf decoration on the bowl and rosette emblems on the rim, topped by a flaming torch finial. The long sides of the tomb display a fishscale pattern. On the north side, there is a raised oval inscription panel commemorating Peter Bentley, who died in 1816, while the south side features a panel for his wife, Frances, who died in 1800.
