Description
41 and 42 Broad Street are two houses dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of painted brick and have a plain tile roof. The buildings have a two-unit plan and stand two stories high with a cellar. The front features a four-window range with 6/6 sash windows that have wide glazing bars and old glass, all set in broad cases beneath gauged brick flat arches.
The right-hand unit includes a six-fielded panel door with a plain overlight, which is sheltered by a flat hood supported on consoles. Next to it, there is a 6/6 sash window with a casement, both also under gauged brick flat arches. The left-hand unit has a 20th-century glazed door in an altered opening, which is topped with an entablature hood on pilasters. Additionally, there is a 20th-century mullion and transom shop window in another altered opening, also beneath a gauged brick flat arch.
