Description

Catherton is an 18th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a brick storey band and stone rubble rear wings. The roof is plain-tiled with brick-coped end gables. There is a central brick ridge stack and an integral 19th-century brick gable-end stack on the rear wing. The front range has a plan that includes two gabled rear wings.

The exterior consists of a two-storey, four-window range, which was formerly five windows, featuring wood mullion and transom casements with brick segmental lintels on the ground floor. The right-hand window has been enlarged to a four-light window under a flat lintel. A projecting two-storey hipped tile-roofed porch is located to the centre left, which has a two-light first-floor casement and a brick segmental-arched opening with a glazed panelled front door.

On the right side, the gable end is made of stone rubble and has 20th-century single-light windows. The rear wing to the right is also constructed of stone rubble and features 19th-century restored two-light and three-light casements, which are partly covered by a flat-roofed single-storey extension to the right.

At the rear, there is a brick wall mostly obscured by two stone rubble two-storey gabled wings that flank a brick lean-to extension. The left-hand wing has two-light ground-floor casements, while the gable end of the right-hand wing features casements with leaded lights. The interior has not been inspected.
