Description
Winston Hall Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse constructed of red brick, with some sections rendered and colourwashed. The roof is covered with plain tiles and pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in an L-shaped plan. The main south-facing facade features four widely spaced windows, with 4-light casements incorporating transoms above a doorway. The doorway is offset to the west and has a plain Doric doorcase with a panelled reveal and a six-panelled door, above which is a rectangular fanlight with decorative glazing bars. A tiled projection, with weathering, extends from the first floor. The first floor is rendered and colourwashed. Parapet gables are topped with internal chimney stacks, incorporating tumbling-in details at the base and moulded eaves corbels. A central ridge chimney stack is positioned off-centre to the east. A gabled rear wing extends to the north-east, containing two large 20th-century casements set within segmental headed openings. This wing employs brick dentil eaves and a parapeted north gable with tumbling-in detail at the base and an internal chimney stack. A pantiled catslide roof covers a rear lean-to extension. While the fenestration is largely 20th century, some original casements remain with leaded glazing.
