Description

Wykin Hall Farmhouse is a house that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with brick ridge stacks and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the main range oriented northwest to southeast and facing southwest. At the southeast end of this range, there is a projecting wing that also dates from the same period. There are 19th-century extensions added to the northwest end of the main front.

The southwest front has two storeys and five gabled bays, with the central gable being smaller. To the left, there is an irregular three-gabled service block addition from the early 19th century that obscures the two left-hand bays of the main house. The central bay of the main house features a glazing bar sash window, which likely replaced what was originally the main entrance. The two right-hand bays also have glazing bar sashes, with three on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the right. A half-glazed door is located to the right of the centre, within a glazed lean-to porch.

The southeast front has two storeys and three gabled bays, with a first-floor band that is interrupted by 19th-century glazing bar sashes in the left and centre bays. The right-hand bay on the first floor is blind, but the band is also broken here, indicating there may have been a window in the past. At ground level, there is a small central sash window that marks the position of the main 19th-century entrance, flanked by two large glazing bar casements.

On the northeast front, there is a projecting two-gabled bay wing to the left and three gabled bays of the main range set back to the right. The main range has blind windows in the gables and blocked windows with three-centred arches in the wing, including one blocked cross-window on the right-hand return. The fenestration is otherwise irregular, with additional 19th and 20th-century windows. A 20th-century glazed porch is situated in the re-entrant angle between the main range and the wing. There are bands at both first floor and eaves levels.
