Description
No. 30 Lower Bond Street is a house and knitting shop dating from the 17th century, which was restored in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame with a high brick plinth and brick infill panels, topped with thatched roofs that step down to the left at the center. It has a brick central stack and end stacks. The structure has two storeys on the right and in the center, with a one-storey knitting shop to the left. The windows are arranged irregularly, with three on the left side and five on the ground floor to the right, all of which are wood mullioned with square lead lattice glazing. There are two tall transom and mullion windows on the left, also with square lead lattice glazing, which were formerly used to light the frameshop. The building has recessed doorways on the right and in the center, both accessed by steps and featuring boarded doors. The framing consists of three tiers of square panels with straight braces, and the principal rafters are curving with feet set in from the ends of the beams.
