Description
These are a row of cottages located at 16-19 Upper Linney, built around 1834. They are constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof that features a brick coped gable parapet and brick end stacks. The cottages have a lobby-entry plan and are arranged in a terrace of paired units. They are two stories high and have a four-window range, with 2-light cast-iron windows that include casements, all set beneath segmental arches. The eaves are decorated with brick modillion.
The entrances are positioned to the left and consist of 6-panel doors housed in beaded cases. The cast-iron windows have central casements and are also placed under segmental arches that feature stucco keyblocks. The rear of the cottages remains unaltered and has no extensions, showcasing metal windows with casements and plank doors, all under segmental arches with brick modillion eaves.
Numbers 14 to 19 form a continuous terrace, with access to the rear through a 6-panel door leading to a passage beside No. 14. There is a cast-iron plaque above indicating Cooper & Bluck's nail manufactory, dated 1834.
