Description
This building is a barn dating from the late 17th century, located approximately 25 metres to the north-east of Upper Spoad Farmhouse. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a high coursed limestone rubble plinth, with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has four framed bays and is oriented from north-west to south-east, with the site sloping down to the south-east.
The framing consists of square panels, with three panels extending up to the wall plate. On the south-west front, there are stone steps leading up to a boarded door on the left, two pitching openings on the right, and one in the right-hand gable end. To the right, there are two boarded byre doors set into the high plinth and a window to the left.
Inside, the barn features two pairs of purlins and tie-beam trusses with raking queen struts, with bay divisions supported by long tension braces. Upper Spoad Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
