Description
The farm buildings located approximately 40 metres to the south-west of Shadwell Hall consist of a cowhouse, stables, cartshed, and granary, likely built around 1812. They are constructed from coursed and squared limestone and coursed rubble, with some parts rebuilt in 20th-century concrete block. The roof is made of limestone, with some sections replaced by corrugated asbestos. The buildings are arranged in an irregular L-plan, with the site sloping from the north-west to the south-east.
The stables feature one storey and a loft, with a large gable on the left side. There are two boarded loft doors, the right one accessed by tallet steps, and five ground-floor doors, two of which on the right have segmental heads, while one on the left is blocked. A passageway is located second from the left. The cartshed, granary, and cowhouse are situated to the north, with the cartshed on the left comprising four bays supported by cast-iron columns and a weatherboarded loft. The cowhouse on the right has three boarded doors.
To the north-east, there is another cowhouse, which is one of a pair flanking the farmyard entrance. This structure is also one storey high and features three boarded two-leaf doors alternating with slatted wooden windows. These buildings are included as an example of an early 19th-century model farm and may be attributed to John Carline (1761-1835) of Shrewsbury.
