Description

This is a row of five early 19th-century houses known as 1-5 Upper Linney, located in Ludlow. The terrace is constructed of brick and has a hipped slate roof with four cross-axial and one square brick chimney stack. The houses are three storeys high, with basements, and feature a seven-window front. The windows are predominantly 6/6 sashes on the ground and first floors, and 3/6 sashes on the second floor, with some blocked windows. A tier of staircase windows, set within segmental arches, is present on No.3. The front doors are panelled, with overlights, and have flat hoods supported by reeded pilasters. The left-hand side elevation retains two tiers of sashes. At the rear, there are five tiers of 8/8 sashes, with some blocked and 4/8 sashes to the upper floors, arranged under gauged brick flat arches. No.2 has a 20th-century canted bow window on the ground floor, and various doors and window openings are visible to the basements. Stone lintels are present on the rear of No.5.
