Description
STOWE C.P. WESTON SO 37 SW 11/178 Little Weston Farmhouse - GV II
Farmhouse. Early to mid-Cl7, extended or partly rebuilt mid-C19 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill, rendered to front and right gable end on roughcast rubblestone plinth; slate roof. Original plan probably of 3-unit baffle-entry type with left bay rebuilt in mid-C19. 2 storeys. Framing: exposed to rear: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with long straight tension brace; cross member and single- purlin ends visible to right gable end. C19 casements, 3 directly below eaves, including to C19 part and 3 to ground-floor, segmental-headed to left of segmental-headed boarded door to C19 part and 2 to timber framed part, extending into plinth. Prominent rendered ridge stack immediately to right of entrance and external red brick end stack to right with roughcast lean- to bread oven projection. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (September 1986) but noted as having parallel chamfered spine beams to left ground-floor room, suggesting that this part of the house is a rebuilding rather than a C19 addition.
