Description
This is a barn located approximately 50 yards west of Abcott Manor, dating from the early 18th century. It features weatherboarded timber framing and a slate roof, with three framed bays arranged in a north-south direction. The barn is a single storey and has central barn doors. To the right, there is a low 18th-century extension that is half weatherboarded timber framing and half limestone rubble, with a boarded door on the right side.
Inside, the barn has long straight tension braces. The inner roof trusses include angle struts that extend from the tie beams to the principals, along with collar and tie beam end trusses that have V-struts above the collar and three vertical struts below. There are two pairs of purlins and a ridge piece. This barn is included for its group value.
