Description

A terrace of six houses, built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. The houses are constructed of red brick with a slate roof and ridge stacks. They are three storeys high, featuring a continuous moulded wooden eaves cornice and a six-window front. Most windows are late 20th-century casements, although three retain original 16-paned glazing bar sashes, and one is a horizontal sliding sash, all within cambered openings. Nos. 6 and 8, and Nos. 12 and 14 have paired doorcases with pediments, panelled reveals, and six-panel doors. No. 4 has a similar doorcase with a four-panel door. No. 10 has a 20th-century shop front and a half-glazed door. A passageway to the right of No. 4 displays light timber-framed panels. The terrace occupies a prominent position at the junction of Upper Brook Street and Upper Church Street. The buildings are included on the list due to their group value.
