Description

The town walls in Ludlow extend from the Old Gate House westwards to Broad Gate. They date back to the 13th century and are constructed of stone rubble on bedrock, with some areas featuring brickwork. The walls stand approximately 5 to 8 meters high and include an 18th-century brick superstructure with pilasters. There are three brick-vaulted openings that may have been former lime kilns. Additionally, there is a summerhouse located in the garden of No. 2 Brand Lane, which is situated above the walls. The structure has been subject to battered repairs and features a stone-coped brick superstructure with a rubble buttress.
