Description

This is a former threshing barn, now used as a store. It likely dates from the early 18th century. The barn is timber-framed, with sections weatherboarded and clad in red brick dating to the late 19th century, and has a corrugated iron roof. It comprises three bays, with the roof open throughout except for the southern bay, which contains a loft. There is a wide entrance on the west side. The timber framing features close-set, tall panels with long, straight tension braces. The two middle roof trusses incorporate re-used cruck blades with inclined struts from the tie beams. The north gable end is constructed with Queen-strut framing, while the south gable end has been rebuilt in red brick. The barn is said to have been the tithe barn for The Old Rectory opposite.
