Description

Two houses, now divided into flats, located in Shawbury. The buildings date from the mid-18th century, but likely incorporate a 17th-century core. They are timber-framed with rendered walls and painted brick detailing, and have a plain tile roof. The houses are one and two storeys high, with attics. Features include a plinth, a plat band, a corniced eaves detail made of toothed brick, and three small gabled dormers with multi-paned sash windows. Brick ridge stacks are positioned on the left and right sides. The windows have multi-paned sashes with brick arches, with some windows on the ground floor being blind. A front door is located in the second bay from the left, featuring six flush panels (the top two being glazed), a moulded architrave, a radial fanlight, and an early 19th-century cast-iron porch with a tented lead roof. A 17th-century wing with a flush gable is located to the left, with a 19th-century attic casement and a 20th-century first-floor casement. The left-hand return front has late 20th-century casements and a lean-to porch. The interior remains uninspected.
