Description

Haldon is a house located on Corve Street in Ludlow, dating from the late 18th century. It features a brick construction with stone elements and a plain tile roof, along with brick end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The front has a three-window range with late 19th-century 2/2 sash windows that have painted stone sills and are set under gauged brick flat arches with painted stone keyblocks.

The eaves are moulded brick and continue under a central gable that includes a fanlight window with a painted stone sill, positioned under a gauged brick semi-circular arch with a keystone. The ground floor has similar window styles, and there is a stucco plinth with cellar openings beneath stone lintels. A mid-20th-century door is located in a brick pier to the left of the main entrance.

On the left side, the gable features a leaded light casement window, while the right side has 18th-century brickwork that connects to a coursed rubble wall extending to the rear. An attic window with four metal casements has been inserted into the masonry under a brick lintel. The side also includes a six-panel door with an overlight in a plain case.

Inside, the house retains its original dogleg staircase and panelling. The two-storey range at the rear has 19th-century brick dentilled eaves and 18th-century brickwork with a stack, along with a late 19th-century 2/2 sash window under a timber lintel. There is also a further single-storey wing at the rear, which features a small scantling timber frame with brick infill and dentilled eaves.
