Description
This brick kiln, located approximately 460 metres southwest of the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features a domed brick roof with an oculus. The kiln has a circular plan with nine bays, each divided by buttresses. Each bay contains stepped segmental-arched recesses, with a smaller segmental-arched opening in each. There is a depressed-arched entrance on the northwest side. This kiln is an interesting and complete example of a small brick kiln associated with a small brickworks, with the remains of the diggings located to the south of the kiln.
