Description

The garden gates and gate piers, located approximately 50 metres southeast of Berwick House, date from around 1878 and are likely the work of Stevens of Birmingham. They consist of a pair of square grey sandstone ashlar gate piers featuring moulded cornices and large carved iron finials. The gates are low and delicate, made of wrought iron, and include dog bars, scrolled panels, and cresting at the centre. Stevens also made alterations and additions to Berwick House in 1878. These gates and piers are part of a late 19th-century formal garden that was laid out to the southeast of the house, which also includes brick terrace walls that are not listed.
