Description

Home Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that has now been divided into separate units. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof, forming an L-plan layout. The building stands two storeys high with a gable-lit attic above a basement, and it has three storeys at the rear of the front range. Notable architectural details include a moulded eaves cornice and two brick stacks located behind the front ridge, along with a brick ridge stack at the rear.

The facade consists of three bays with boxed glazing bar sash windows that have gauged-brick heads. The basement windows are segmental-headed. The central entrance door has six raised and fielded panels, with the top two being glazed, and is topped by a two-part rectangular overlight and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. The left gable end features a segmental-headed attic glazing bar sash, two blind windows on the first floor, and a blind window on the ground floor to the right. The right gable end has a segmental-headed blind attic window with an inserted two-light casement.

To the right of the main structure, there is a two-storey addition that includes an integral brick end stack, a first-floor segmental-headed two-light wooden casement, and a ground-floor segmental-headed three-light wooden casement. The interior of the building has not been inspected.

Historical context indicates that a map created in 1760 by Thomas Ansell shows a house on the site of Home Farmhouse, labeled as "The Tennants House." This earlier structure is believed to date from the early 18th century, suggesting that the current building replaced it sometime after 1760.
