Description
The garden railings, gates, and gate piers adjoining Berwick House to the southeast were created around 1878, likely by Stevens of Birmingham. They feature a pair of square grey sandstone ashlar gate piers with chamfered rustication, a moulded cornice, and urn finials. The gates are low and delicate, made of wrought iron, and include dog bars, scrolled panels, and cresting at the center. Flanking the gates are sections of delicate wrought-iron railings. Stevens also made alterations and additions to Berwick House in 1878. These gates and railings connect the house to the walls of the late 19th-century formal gardens located to the southeast, which are not included in this listing.
