SO57SW Kitchen garden walls greenhouse and 482-1/9/9 boiler house 200m SW of Ashford Hall

GV II

Garden walls, gates and greenhouse. Late C18. Brick walls and piers with part ashlar and part tiled coping. Rectangular plan of walls enclosing approximately one acre of former kitchen garden of Ashford Hall (qv). 3 doorways adjacent to corners with brick segmental arches and plain boarded doors, with reused 6-panel door. Gateway to north-west with brick gatepiers with ashlar pyramid copings with cyma-mould soffits. C20 boarded doors. On north wall is C19 12-bay lean-to greenhouse on brick plinth with 4-panel end doors. Associated boiler house on opposite side of wall: brick with tiled lean-to roof, and brick chimney. Included for group value.
