Description

The kitchen garden walls, greenhouse, and boiler house, located 200 meters southwest of Ashford Hall, date from the late 18th century. The garden walls and piers are made of brick, featuring part ashlar and part tiled coping. The walls form a rectangular enclosure of approximately one acre, which was once the kitchen garden for Ashford Hall. There are three doorways near the corners, each with brick segmental arches and plain boarded doors, including a reused six-panel door. The gateway to the northwest has brick gatepiers topped with ashlar pyramid copings and cyma-mould soffits, along with 20th-century boarded doors. On the north wall, there is a 19th-century twelve-bay lean-to greenhouse built on a brick plinth, featuring four-panel end doors. The associated boiler house is located on the opposite side of the wall; it is constructed of brick with a tiled lean-to roof and has a brick chimney. This structure is included for its group value.
