Description
The Gorser Tomb is a chest tomb located approximately 18 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb has a circular plan with a wide circular base, a moulded plinth, a fluted frieze, and a dentil cornice, topped with a semispherical cap. There are four panels on the sides of the tomb. The earliest legible inscription commemorates Richard Gorser, son of R. and F. Gorser, who died on October 26, 179?, at the age of 53, and also mentions his wife Mary, who died on May 9, 1827, at the age of 75 years.
