Description
The churchyard gates and gate piers, located approximately 25 meters to the north-west of the tower of the Church of Saint Mary, date from the early 18th century and were likely altered in the mid to late 19th century. They feature a pair of rusticated grey sandstone ashlar piers, each with a chamfered plinth, a moulded cornice, and depressed onion-shaped caps topped with ovoid finials. Between the piers is a plain wrought-iron overthrow that includes a light. The gates themselves are a pair of 19th-century wrought-iron gates with fleur-de-lys headed railings. The 19th-century alterations likely involved remodelling the finials, adding the overthrow, and replacing the original gates.
