Description

These are two adjacent mid-18th century buildings on Bridgnorth High Street. The left-hand building is constructed of painted brick, while the right-hand building is of red brick. The buildings are three storeys high, with four sash windows on each. The windows are set within moulded architraves; the windows of number 56 have plain glazing, while those of number 55 have early 19th-century glazing bars. Quoins are present, along with a brick band and a rainwater head bearing initials. Moulded stone eaves top the facade. A modern shop front has been added to number 56. Number 55 features a late 18th-century double bow shop window with a central doorway, incorporating mid-19th-century glazing with turned columns. The buildings are part of a group that includes the Swan Inn and numbers 53 to 57 High Street.
