GV II

Public house, formerly blacksmiths. Partly early C19 refronting of late medieval core to left, and late C19 cross wing to right. Red brick with cogged brick eaves. Plain-tile and slate roofs. Axial brick ridge stack to left and integral eaves stack to right. L-shaped plan of 3-cell rectangular block parallel to street and cross wing to right. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic. Street front with, to left, an early C19 2-storey, 3-window range of 3/6 sashes with brick cambered lintels to first floor. Twin 2/2 ground-floor sashes flanking single central 2/2 sash. C19 partly glazed panelled door to left with round-headed fanlight. To right is slightly projecting gable end with single 5-light late C19 mullion and transom window to each storey. Rear masked by later extensions. INTERIOR: vestiges of cruck truss blade encapsulated in east wall of cross wing.
