Description

St Julian's House is a former vicarage that has been converted into a private home. The building primarily dates from the late 19th century, though it may have a core from the 17th century. It features a mock timber design over a brick lower storey and has a plain tiled roof. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays, including outer gables and a central full-height gabled porch. The porch has a stone plinth and a quatrefoil panelled timbering above, along with a continuous range of mullioned windows with leaded lights. The four-centred arched door has the inscription "Abide with me" in the lintel, while a further inscription on the central mullion reads, "Hold up my going in thy paths." The gable features ornate barge-boards.

The fenestration is asymmetrical in the outer gabled bays, with a small doorway to the left and a two-light casement window with stone quoins on both sides. To the immediate left of the porch, there are three foiled lancets, and a single lancet window is located to the right. The right-hand section shows traces of earlier blue and red Flemish bond brickwork. The upper storeys exhibit ornate mock timbering with close studding, quatrefoil panels, balustrading, lozenges, and ogee braces. A slightly projecting mullioned and transomed window with decorative leaded cames is found in the left-hand bay at first-floor level, while the right-hand window is a full oriel. Beneath the gables, there are two-light mullioned and transomed windows with slightly jettied apexes. The rear wall and gable end have stacks, and there are traces of earlier brickwork in the rear wall, which is timber framed with brick nogging.
