Description
PITCHFORD C.P. PITCHFORD SJ 5204 - 5304 SJ 52794 04176 12/133 Flight of garden - steps approx 30 metres to south of Pitchford Hall GV II Flight of garden steps. 1870's or 1880's, probably by George Devey. Coursed red sandstone rubble and red sandstone ashlar. 3 stone steps. Low coped flanking walls have coped square ashlar end piers with globe finials. One of a pair of flights of garden steps which form a sequence with the steps in the retaining wall adjoining Pitchford Hall to the south (qv) and part of the terrace retaining wall adjoining the Hall to the east (qv). Included for group value.
