Description

Ashgrove is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, rendered at the front, and features a slate roof with two integral red brick stacks on the back wall, which have been rebuilt in late 19th century yellowish brown brick. The building has two storeys and a dentilled eaves cornice. The front has three windows, featuring 16-paned glazing bar sashes, with the center window being blind and painted to imitate a sash. There is a central entrance with a 20th-century half-glazed door beneath a contemporary gabled wooden porch. To the right, there is a single-storey flat-roofed extension, and at the rear, a late 19th century gabled addition is located between the stacks. Ashgrove is shown on the 1843 Tithe Map.
