BOMERE HEATH C.P. MYTTON SJ 41 NW 5/97 Mytton Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, now house. Probably C16, remodelled in the late C19. Rendered timber frame on brick plinth. Slate roof. L-plan. 2 framed bays with a rear wing of 2 long bays and one short bay. One storey and attic. Integral brick end stacks, and brick ridge stack to rear wing. Pair of gabled dormers with barge boards and finials, and 2-light metal casements. 2-window front; 2-light small-paned casements with open triangular-pedimented gabled hoods on brackets. Central porch with open pedimented gable, and C20 boarded door with radial fanlight. Right-hand return front: rear wing with pair of gabled dormers. 4 windows; pair of 2-light casements with pedimented hoods as front, small casement to right, and flat-roofed canted bay off- centre to left. Interior: mostly remodelled in the C19. Ground-floor front rooms and entrance passage with re-ordered C17 oak wainscot panelling. Neo-Gothic fireplaces. Chamfered ceiling beams to rear wing. Large former kitchen fireplace to rear wing with probably early C19 surround consisting of beaded segmental arch with key, and cornice. Some framing exposed internally at rear.
