MARSTOW CP SO 51 NE 8/90 Ciderhouse, bakehouse and wash-house about 5 yards south of Marstow Court
GV II
Ciderhouse, bakehouse and wash-house. Probably late C18 to early C19 with mid-C19 extension. Sandstone rubble, pantile roof and brick stack. Rectangular plan, three plus two bays aligned east-north-east/west-north- west. One storey. North elevation has two windows. One, roughly central, has cambered head and 2-light casement with inward opening shutters on spear- head strap hinges. To its right in two-bay full-height bakehouse and wash- house extension is a small window in a blocked doorway. At the extreme right is a ledged door into the bakehouse and wash-house. Large opening with cambered head and early C20 sliding door to left-hand side of ciderhouse. To the right of the sliding door is entry, also with cambered head, to cider- house. To the left of the ciderhouse is a lean-to, probably early C19, in the front wall of which is a dressed stone triangular headed opening to small pigeon loft. Interior of ciderhouse has complete cider-press and mill. Eastern truss has triple angle struts. Western truss is composed of a pair of re-used cruck blades with two collars. Interior of bakehouse and wash- house has bread oven and copper. Its one truss has collar and queen struts, the latter tied back to principals.
