Description
The ciderhouse, bakehouse, and wash-house located about 5 yards south of Marstow Court is likely from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a mid-19th century extension. It is built from sandstone rubble, has a pantile roof, and features a brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan with three bays plus a two-bay extension, and it is one storey high.
On the north elevation, there are two windows. The roughly central window has a cambered head and a 2-light casement with inward-opening shutters on spearhead strap hinges. To the right, in the full-height bakehouse and wash-house extension, there is a small window in a blocked doorway, and at the far right, there is a ledged door leading into the bakehouse and wash-house. To the left of the ciderhouse, there is a large opening with a cambered head and an early 20th-century sliding door. Next to this sliding door is another entry with a cambered head that leads into the ciderhouse.
To the left of the ciderhouse, there is a lean-to, likely from the early 19th century, which features a dressed stone triangular-headed opening that leads to a small pigeon loft. Inside the ciderhouse, there is a complete cider-press and mill. The eastern truss has triple angle struts, while the western truss consists of a pair of re-used cruck blades with two collars. The interior of the bakehouse and wash-house includes a bread oven and a copper, with one truss that has a collar and queen struts, the latter tied back to the principals.
