MARSTOW CP SO 51 NE 8/89 Marstow Court

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably mainly late C18 to early C19 with C17 origins. Sandstone rubble, partly painted and rendered and brick; Welsh slate and pantile roofs and brick stacks. T-plan with main range north-north-west/ south-south-east and short central wing to west. Cellar, two storeys and attics. East elevation has five windows, 2-light mid-C19 casements under cambered heads with voussoirs. Ground floor has one similar casement to left-hand side. Ledged late C19 door under cambered head and early C20 wrought iron open porch to left of centre. To the right of the entry is a 2-light casement with brick arch and two more casements, one of three lights and that to the far right of two lights. Chamfered doorway with 2-centred head to cellar at left-hand side. South gable has blocked 2- light mullioned window, probably C17, to cellar. West elevation has mid- C19 projecting wing and glazed early C20 porch. Within the porch is a 2-light C17 mullioned window. To the right-hand side is a similar mullioned window to the cellar. Interior has heavy ceiling beams with lambs-tongue run-out chamfer stops. Trusses are said to have raking struts from ties to principals.
