Description
Marstow Court is a farmhouse that likely dates mainly from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with origins in the 17th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, which is partly painted and rendered, along with brick. The roofs are made of Welsh slate and pantile, featuring brick stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main range oriented north-north-west to south-south-east and a short central wing extending to the west. It includes a cellar, two storeys, and attics.
The east elevation features five windows, which are 2-light mid-19th century casements set under cambered heads with voussoirs. On the ground floor, there is one similar casement on the left-hand side. To the left of center, there is a ledged late 19th century door under a cambered head, accompanied by an early 20th century wrought iron open porch. To the right of the entry, there is a 2-light casement with a brick arch, along with two more casements: one with three lights and another on the far right with two lights. There is a chamfered doorway with a 2-centred head leading to the cellar on the left-hand side. The south gable has a blocked 2-light mullioned window, likely from the 17th century, located in the cellar.
The west elevation features a mid-19th century projecting wing and an early 20th century glazed porch. Inside the porch, there is a 2-light 17th century mullioned window. To the right-hand side, there is a similar mullioned window leading to the cellar. The interior includes heavy ceiling beams with lambs-tongue run-out chamfer stops, and the trusses are said to have raking struts connecting the ties to the principals.
