Description
The building is a stable located about 40 yards north-north-east of Monnington Court, likely dating from the 18th to early 19th century. The structure features rubble at the south end and timber framing at the north end, with brick infill, and has a roof made of corrugated iron and slate. It is a single storey with a loft, consisting of three bays aligned roughly north to south. The timber framing sits on a rubble plinth approximately 3 feet high, with thin scantling and mostly three panels from cill to plate, supported by tension braces from the centre to the plate. The roof has two rows of purlins and a boarded ridge.
On the west elevation, there are two square windows to the right, a ledged double door to the left, a ledged stable door to the centre right, and a central ledged loft door. The south gable features tallet stairs. A notable decorative feature on the front is a large yoke of ox and horse shoes nailed to it. Inside, the stable has interrupted tie-beam trusses with raking V-struts.
