Description
Cublington Cottages is a farmhouse that has been converted into cottages. It likely dates from the 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the early 20th century. The building features a timber frame set on a sandstone rubble plinth, with parts rendered and others cased in brick. It has concrete tiled roofs and brick stacks. The structure is arranged in an L-shape, with wings extending eastward and northward. The north/south wing is two stories tall, while the other wing has one story and an attic.
On the west elevation, there are two late 19th-century two-light casement windows located in the center and to the left of the wing facing the road. To the right, there is a brick gable front with two segmentally-headed two-light casement windows at half-storey level. At the center, in the angle of the two wings, there is a 17th-century porch featuring moulded posts, a pent roof, and an early 20th-century glazed door. The north gable displays exposed timber framing. Inside, the property is noted for its heavy chamfered ceiling beams. Cublington Cottages were previously known as Middle Cublington Farmhouse.
