Description
Newbarns Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and late 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with plaster infill, sandstone rubble, and brick that is finished in render, topped with Welsh slate roofs and rendered stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main range oriented roughly east to west and a projecting arm to the north. It stands two storeys high with an attic.
On the north elevation, there is a 2-light late 19th-century casement window in the gable of the projecting timber-framed section, above a 3-light late 20th-century casement window on the ground floor. To the left of the entry in a lean-to, which conceals the right side of the main range, there is a 6-pane late 20th-century window. Inside, the farmhouse features a newel staircase with some oval treads next to a blocked fireplace at the east end, and a triangular-headed doorway leading from the main range to the projecting arm. The ground floor room in the projecting arm has stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
