Description
Thruxton House is a house that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the late 18th or early 19th century. It features a timber frame and brick construction, topped with Welsh slate roofs and brick ridge stacks. The building has an irregular longitudinal plan that runs roughly north to south and consists of two storeys and attics.
The east elevation of the main range includes four sash windows with segmental heads, two early 20th-century gabled dormers, and an entrance to the left of centre that has an open pediment and a fan-light. The rear elevation showcases a timber-framed projecting gable. Attached to the north is a lower timber-framed range that has late 20th-century casements. Inside the main range, the principal ground floor room to the south features heavy stop-chamfered ceiling beams with moulded plaster margins that divide the ceiling into four panels.
