Description
32 and 33 Church Street is a house that was formerly an inn, dating from the 17th century. The building is roughcast with a Welsh slate roof, featuring stone tiles on the rear pitch and wing. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The central feature is a two-storey canted bay window that has 20th-century 4/4:4/4:4/4 sashes beneath a lead roof, and a 6/6 sash in a broad moulded case in the gable above. To the left of the bay window is a 20th-century small-paned 8/8 sash, while to the right is an early 19th-century sash in a broad beaded case. There is another canted bay with 4/4 sashes, a 20th-century plank door with a simple doorcase and flat hood to the left, and a 19th-century panelled door in a simple doorcase with pilasters, a moulded band, and a bracketed lead hood to the far right. The left side of the building has weatherboarding over a sandstone rubble panel and a two-light casement window in the gable. A similar wing features a 6/6 sliding sash above early 20th-century paired 2/2 casements, with a brick stack at the rear.
