Description
No. 4 High Street is a shop and dwelling that features an early 19th century front with a core dating back to the 17th century. The building is constructed of brick and has a hipped roof covered with plain tiles, along with a 20th century brick chimney at the rear. It stands three storeys tall and has a single-window range, with 8/8 sash windows set in shouldered moulded architraves on the first and second floors. The eaves have a boarded soffit.
The early 20th century shop front is located to the right and includes glazed and panelled double doors with an overlight in a moulded frame, which is recessed under a panelled soffit. It features a canted plate-glass window, a moulded fascia-board, and a modillioned hood supported by stop-consoles on panelled pilasters. At the rear, the building has a plain tile roof and a 20th century brick stack, with late 17th century timber-framing visible in the gable. The interior has not been inspected.
