Description

The Dovecot, likely built around 1700 with alterations made in 1868, is a Grade II listed structure. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and is constructed of brick with a tiled roof and a wooden tiled lantern. The building has an octagonal plan, with its main façade facing northeast. The northeast elevation includes a segmentally headed opening on the upper floor. The sandstone ground floor has a central canted water trough set in a moulded round arch, inscribed with "GHD 1868." A low octagonal lantern, probably from the 1868 alterations, is supported by wooden posts and has open sides. There is a side entry, and the interior contains numerous nesting holes and ledges.
